Healing Interstitial Cystitis (IC/BPS)
I worked for years to heal from IC/BPS, and I'm now feeling really good. I began writing at the very start of my healing journey because I thought my perspective as a physical therapist and a patient might be helpful for others who are working to heal.
I began by trying most of the Western-medicine treatments that were available at the time. Many of the treatment options I adopted can be found in the book, The Interstitial Cystitis Solution. I recommend this book because it provides a clear overview of Western-medicine treatments along with the research and the clinical expertise of the author, Nicole Cozean, who was also my personal physical therapist.
I combined this Western-medicine approach with complementary treatments, and I found that using a holistic approach and tuning in to the connection between my body, mind, and spirit was crucial for my healing. In Healing through Chronic Pain, I share this journey with you. Many people have told me that reading my story opened up new avenues for healing, helped them not feel so alone in their struggle, and gave them hope.
"I was honored to work with Mary Ruth Velicki through much of her healing journey, and I am so excited she’s using her experience to bring hope and wisdom to others through The Healing Series books! We often focus solely on the physical, at the exclusion (or even the detriment) of the mind and spirit, but all three must be addressed for true healing to take place. I highly recommend this series to anyone interested in learning more about the mind-body-spirit connection when dealing with chronic pain.”
